Cute Penguin Black and Teal Watercolor Travel Dopp Kit
A photo of a penguin from my local zoo. I love how it turned out on this bag. I was able to cut out the identifying clip on his wing with this clever crop, and the little bottom and feet on their own crack me up. This design has sold on several products, including this one.
Turtle Watercolor School Valentine's Day Note Card
The photo of this turtle was taken on a cell phone. The photo had awful glare. It's gone through a few iterations over the years, and people love it. I'll have to share the original photo sometime. :D
First Amendment Freedom of Speech Protest Rally T-Shirt
I am a former journalism and debate teacher. This one is close to my heart, and fortunately, it seems to strike the right chord for a lot of others as well. :)
I am still really proud of my hero image and this entire collection. I love how the overexposed photo of a bird in a parking lot became a "Christmas legend" through songs and writing. He even has his own catalog. lol. I'm the only one who's purchased something out of the collection, but it will always be special to me.
I was surprised to see I don't actually have the original photo of this bird in my store. lol. Oops. This is the photo that kind of "started it all" for my nature photography. And it did win a local award at the Wild Birds' Unlimited store in the area. :) This design has been popular as well and has sold on several items, including this mug.
This corridor actually sits on the road I've been driving for years. I first decided I wanted to photograph this scene when I was in high school, and lived in my neighborhood off this street. Today, I live just a little bit down the road, and I still get this treat every year (even though the leaves have been less vibrant this year). A couple of years ago, they were preparing to do construction on the road, and I wasn't sure how involved it would be, so I knew I *had* to get photos before they started. Fortunately, no trees were impacted and it still looks gorgeous today.
SOMETHING DIFFERENT:
This is my original YouTube channel. I am most proud of my funny shorts starring my puppy, but there is some other content present as well. Perhaps someday I will return to creating videos with my dog. And maybe some more board game videos with my husband. The bloopers at the end of that one still make me laugh.
It’s always difficult to say what is truly the “best.” Usually, it’s the design I’m working on right now — because that’s where my full focus and present ability come together.
For this showcase, I’m sharing two design elements that have found their way into very different types of work. The first is the puzzle motif, featured across five creations. The second is the ripped edge — a tactile visual idea expressed through multiple product types.
Here’s a look at how these ideas took shape for the “Puzzle motif”:
You always do such a great job with color combos! It's almost like you have training or something. :D lol
I like the modern take on the kid's birthday and all-in-one wedding invitation. I feel like this is an area that doesn't see this style as often, and I'm sure it is a breath of fresh air. I also really like the cleaner business card and the puzzle piece pillow for Mr. and Mrs! :)
Congratulations on 50 members Amanda, that is really good, I hope many will participate,
always looking for engagement ( even when I am busy), Like you made the pinterest board public
FB is getting harder for me at least, with all their restriction, also sensing less participation in groups. Any group with engagements are good.
Would love to know which SM you all prefer? I am in IG, FB, pinterest and blue sky. Substack only in this group.
Really like blue sky for simplicity and direct links.
I am ok with AI, using it myself on titles, descriptions, animations, but wont use it on products, because I just love painting , painted as a teenager, and had to leave it to make a living.
I am not running an art show, anything like that, simply adding my Zazle items as you do, Really appreciate any engagement, on my ZZ or pinterest,
Hard to choose the best - I recently added a new store, probably the worst time
This is for all the 10 items, I love whimsical and pattern and recently mixed media style,
love creating for kids, little cute creatures, sometimes cartoon style or close to fine art.
My new store Tiny whimsy is all for kids, and will be adding lots of magic to it.
1/ my recent lady bug, I love to expand later for baby shower or birthday
3/My new characters , cute elves , I think they are cute in my baby shower collection ,recently addicted to swirls, was looking what to add to the tree, so the elves came to life
It's difficult to pick "my best" but here are some of my favorites for different reasons.
1. Sure it's just a simple Christmas card, but I had an idea in my head for the Christmas ornament graphics I wanted to make, and these came out exactly the way I was picturing:
3. I love history, and had it in my head that I wanted to do an ancient Egypt themed collection, and I'm pretty happy how these illustrations turned out:
4. I usually do more realistic style illustrations, but I tried my hand at creating some cartoon birds for my Happy Bird Day collection, and I really love the way they turned out:
5. I really love the way my hot air balloon illustrations turned out, and the pattern I made with them, though they've never been a best seller for me. Oh well:
absolutely love your Happy Bird Day Cartoon Birds , so cool, its the favorite, I am going to design some birds funny Christmas card soon I have in my head, love doing birds.
Here are my chosen items - I either draw the outlines on paper, then scan it and finish it in Illustrator or create from scratch in Illustrator. I don't use clipart nor AI (I don't mind if people do but I just wish to highlight that aspect of my designs):
1/Baby shower Blue stork invitation for expecting a boy (I also have version for girls but I have ti update products)
Hi Bepina, nice to see you again, I remember you from Discord, and your cute pattern are you on Col's Creation channel? if you want more engagement, we doing some daily , let me know, Adobe illustrator is too expensive for me, but I have the free krita, i used mostly and purchased Rebelle for watercolor mostly , and finally started using it, missed the 6 months free trial for Affinity designer, now temporary post, will see what they come up with, as Canva purchased them, may be something new. if you need extra boost, I am always looking for friends for pinterest engagement. Glad you joined Amanda challenge
I think my favorites are the fish, the light house, and the stork designs. The fish look so friendly! lol I will say that the poor lady snow person with the body image issues made me giggle a little, too.
One thing to be aware of: the "neon" disclaimer is coming up on the colorful dots product. I think it's fine, but if it bothers you, perhaps you could try some other words. You do already have colorful. Bright might be good if you don't already have it as well.
Oh thank you (and for all the likes on Z)! Yes I've been on Discord but I've deleted my profile on Snuggle hamster as there is no longer free version. I can't remember Col's creation. I've recently purchased Affinity as Illustrator is something I can use after work thanks to my very understanding boss but I'm planning on switching to Affinity completely. Yet I have missed the info they were bought by Canva which means they'll probably (and sadly) switch to subscription model.
Regarding Pinterest collaboration - great, extra boost (and friends) are always appreciated, I'm in :)
great, can you drop your pinterest account, I will check it out, If you want to be on Col's channel I can invite ou, set you a link, and you have to stay semi active there. I would say many people from there already knows you. If they switch to subscription that would be painful on Afinity, I was going to purchase the one time fee, I like, but realized I can't . So we will see in couple of days. I usually check the girls pinterest that engage,,,,back, and also Col's channel is good, and you have space here too, if you save yours under the Fun Fridays pinterest board
, I will check them later on direct from Amanda's board
checked some pins, you have some pins pointed to SHD , if you have time you should find them and edit with the correct ZZ link, I only found one by accident https://ca.pinterest.com/pin/510595676523652242/
First of all, I want to say that most of my designs are created with AI, so if that’s a problem for anyone, I’m sorry. I’ll also say, with the utmost respect, that I won’t apologize for working this way. I’m not some newcomer taking advantage of a trend without any knowledge. I’m almost 59 years old, I earned a master’s degree in digital graphic design back in 1994–95, when few people even knew what a Mac was, and due to various circumstances, I’ve had to reinvent myself many times. Now AI is part of the process — so you learn it and you use it. It’s as simple as that.
• I love the style, the colors... It belongs to a collection for the bride’s team. It’s AI.
• I create some of these for my own home. They fit perfectly with my decor and my style. I live in Europe, and shopping on Z is quite expensive for me, so to be honest, I’ll buy my download and print it in my neighborhood.
• It’s been one of my best sellers, with lovely and positive reviews. Z changed something, and it stopped selling, but I still love it! I updated the cover with the arch shape, but there were still no new sales.
Hi Mari, I don't mind AI, you are a graphic designer, which is form of art for me, just wish some would not tag hand drawn , when they use AI, it is deceiving, or painting in title, but I got use to it, you have some lovely designs, and advantage as Graphic designer, you know the composition, I always struggle with, I tend to put too much in,( need to go back and study a bit about graphic design and negative space ) any tips as you are Silver, to go on with Zazzle within this difficult environment, after the fees, and knocked lots of Z ranks, I think the best bet is to focus on Events, as Zazzle acquired the Event app, forgot the name, , wonder if you have any wisdom to share for younger stores, so we do not make too many mistakes,,,,,,,,,,if you like to share some tips , that would be helpful
Thank you so much for your kind words. For me, AI is just another tool, and I don’t think rejecting it is a good idea. When used properly, it can be fantastic in many ways. Like everything, it requires a sense of aesthetics and very precise descriptions, and even then it might create an image that isn’t exactly what you had in mind, so you often have to tweak or rewrite. It’s not as simple as it seems. Also, the good ones are expensive, but I see it as an investment —just like when you buy fonts instead of creating your own. I think it’s the same thing.
I’m sorry, but I don’t have any great advice. I’m Silver level, but I’m not a big seller. In 2022 I had a wonderful sales year that got me there; I think I reached that level around mid-2023, just before everything started to fade away. Now things are terrible, honestly worse than you can imagine. I used to make around 300 sales a month, and now I barely reach 50. It’s a disaster. Still, I’ve invested so much time here that quitting doesn’t seem like a good idea. I’ve had to take full-time administrative jobs for a while and will probably have to do it again, but I can’t just throw away everything I’ve built.
For someone new to Z, I know it can feel discouraging. I couldn’t give you any specific advice because everyone’s situation is different, but starting on Z right now isn’t ideal, as results are very limited.
It is a fantastic place for its possibilities but needs a lot of outside promotional work. And I understand it is very hard to let go of what one built and the vision it holds.
I wish you all the best and hope that our collaborative actions gives everyone the deserved boost.
thank you so much for your honesty , regarding AI, I have fun to paint, and first time I joined some arts sites, mostly paid, I am learning to draw, it is fun if I can pull it together, it trains my brain and channel idea through intuition, I just simple enjoying the process, and use AI for the boring tasks, regarding those sales, you still have some but must feel bad, to fall from the peak, but as more people join and do design faster with ai or not, so earnings is shared among larger pool, individually collect less, I dropped down to very little sales, and would normally not do more Zazzle, but I use it as a vehicle, to expand my skills, may be to do a book for kids or some other ventures, the financial reward is very small, and really after costs ,there is no earnings for me, I am still at lost and Canada Revenue Agency will one day tell me I cannot claim the expenses as there is not a reasonable expectation for profit, downgrade it to a hobby. But it is what it is, as long I have fun painting is still sustainable, and more rewarding than washing a dishes, in a kitchen which would sadly pay more. 2021-2022 was probably still good to join, pandemic drove more people to online sales, , so natural drop on ZZ after the pandemic and now we have lots of Temu and Amazon customization to compete with , wishing you best , and hope the Christmas will pick up soon. the sales, I hope , I did check all your ZZ items, and left my mark there
I completely agree with you. When people hear AI, they think you generate something and use it immediately. For me, it's nothing more than a basis from which you continue to work, incorporate your own vision, and, not to mention, correct everything that hasn't been generated beautifully. It takes many hours to arrive at a final result. Unfortunately, I often fail, due to not enough hours in a day, when it comes to cover images.
I am 57 and live in Europe. Unfortunately, I was unable to obtain a degree, but I have been involved in art from an early age. In addition to working, because my parents did not consider becoming an artist to be a good career. Creating is something that is in me. When I hear your story, I also hear a bit of my own story. Thank you for your candor!
I visited the links and left❤ . You have many beautiful designs. I love the peacock! I will visit the Pinterest board later. First, I have to gather my 10 designs.
I will be 61, came back to my art after 45+ years, it is never late, lots of online schools now , even inexpensive, if you want to go back, for me with my father on disability and my mother having other health issues , wasn't option to go to art school, even I really wanted, and you do not need a degree, I am running several subscriptions, considerably cheaper than I would at real art school and following many artists, it is never late to go back , what I noticed in our groups many just joined because of fun of drawing, mixed of women but many are older . Regarding AI, customer decides, many do not know it was created by AI , or not. It is personal choice. I am using AI for descriptions, even animations, till google restricted it, 10 per month is really low, a bummer, I just like to channel my intuition through my art,,,,,,, did not know you are in Europe, where I came from
It's funny to hear that you're also originally from Europe, and that we're in the same age group. Looking at your art, I would have guessed you were much younger. But that's the beauty of art: it's not about your age, but what you create.
I also take online courses because it's fun to keep developing and to master my drawing tablet. I still really enjoy painting on paper. It's a different experience. But I haven't found a good technique yet for converting paper (usually larger than A4) to digital. Taking photos of it doesn't give such a nice result, mainly because of unwanted shadows.
I have only a small scanner, if I paint with real paint, our cat would make a mess, there is Staple a stationery store, they have larger scanner, may be in your area something similar, to pick all together and for small fee you might be able to scann them, great you at taking classes,, I just signed in what Debt sent me, a Scetchbook retreat, which is more architectural painting, mostly buildings, which I would like to try, 10 lessons a day, vow, can't keep up for 4 days I think, might record some of them, , this is my 3rd venue like these, can't believe they give these lessons for free, and of course they always want you to sign up....
That it is a good idea! Thank you! I hope to use them in the future but also I am afraid to loose them when something will happen to our house. I really hope that will never be the case but I will feel better when I have all my work also digital.
With watercolor I work on A4. But with acrylic paint I work a bit larger. I do lock my cat out of the room because he is way to curious 🤣
I always also try to find the free lessons but most of the times there is a catch liking signing up or you have to pay after 2 lessons. But I take what I can get
vow you doing watercolor and acrylic, amazing, I just do digital, because of space and the cat.. the free lessons are always good, what I noticed, they do it kind of sneeky, yes, they want you singn in, the last one I was lucky to get in , they had some free giveaway , but they way they initially ran it, they invited 35 artist and you had 10 I think for life painting lesson, each day 3-4 lesson, was tough to make, I think I did 15, and got lucky I have a place for next year Year of Magic by Tamara Laporte, ,,,,,,,, the other one I just finished were 30 artist again 4-5 lessons a day, I have last 2 days to record some lessons I like, but both together amazing experience, some new technique , and to see what others create, some very good teachers/artist I will follow. And Debt gave me a link, and this one is crazy 10 lessons a day for 4-5 days, I think this one I definitely have to record, so they pack many lesson in short period of time, you cannot do them all, impossible, so this way they hook you in, I will have to stop joining any for a while, as I took too much on my plate , but if I see a good one, I can let you know
I really appreciate your words! Sometimes I come across very harsh comments about people who use AI, questioning their legitimacy, the quality of the images, or a thousand other aspects. As you mentioned, mutual respect is the right approach. I spend hours developing a design, including preparing all the text, creating mockups, and managing every detail that the process involves. Using AI doesn’t mean that everything is ready instantly with just a snap of the fingers. I simply wanted to be honest, and if someone chooses to overlook my designs for that reason, they are completely entitled to do so — and I won’t take offense, because that simply isn’t my fight.

1. Sure it's just a simple Christmas card, but I had an idea in my head for the Christmas ornament graphics I wanted to make, and these came out exactly the way I was picturing:
https://www.zazzle.com/retro_merry_christmas_photo_collage_holiday_card-256720413186652106
2. I'll never forget I was in the store, when my father-in-law called with a request for an angelic cannoli illustration that he wanted for a banner. It was a lot of fun to make, and of course I thought it deserved a whole holy cannoli collection: https://www.zazzle.com/funny_holy_cannoli_italian_themed_party_invitation-256471259910007814

Oh well:

6. It's the wrong season, but I love my I Love You Deerly Valentine's Day collection, which alas has never gotten much love in terms of sales:

7. I know they're not everyone's cup of tea, but this alligator is one of my favorite animal illustrations:
https://www.zazzle.com/green_alligator_nabvy_blue_return_address_label-106826310212681508
8. I had a lot of fun creating these retro style jungle animal graphics, and really liked the way they turned out:

9. And even though they're much more of a realistic style I also love these strawberries:

absolutely love your Happy Bird Day Cartoon Birds , so cool, its the favorite, I am going to design some birds funny Christmas card soon I have in my head, love doing birds.

AHHH! Soo many cute designs! :D
I love your work. :)
I usually check the girls pinterest that engage,,,,back, and also Col's channel is good, and you have space here too, if you save yours under the Fun Fridays pinterest board
, I will check them later on direct from Amanda's board

thanks again <3
checked some pins, you have some pins pointed to SHD , if you have time you should find them and edit with the correct ZZ link, I only found one by accident https://ca.pinterest.com/pin/510595676523652242/
oh, thank you for reminding me, I completely forgot that I put links ti SHD
Hi! These are some of my favorites.
It’s AI.
https://www.zazzle.com/chic_vintage_woman_carrying_toddler_flower_girl-256945456894367827
• It belongs to a collection featuring landscapes or places around the world that I like or have visited. Also AI.
https://www.zazzle.com/gorgeous_exquisite_couple_swinging_ny_park_wedding_save_the_date-256627016244068941
• I love it and I wish it would sell a lot! I’ve seen similar designs — it happens sometimes — but I loved creating this concept for growing families.
https://www.zazzle.com/funny_merry_christmas_plus_one_family_photo_holiday_card-256921827687484634
• I create some of these for my own home. They fit perfectly with my decor and my style. I live in Europe, and shopping on Z is quite expensive for me, so to be honest, I’ll buy my download and print it in my neighborhood.
https://www.zazzle.com/refined_black_white_overlapping_leaves_flowers_poster-256927032225922986
• It’s been one of my best sellers, with lovely and positive reviews. Z changed something, and it stopped selling, but I still love it! I updated the cover with the arch shape, but there were still no new sales.
https://www.zazzle.com/exquisite_cute_transparency_cut_paper_effect_photo_save_the_date-256259767216459141
• A magnetic paper option was one of my best sellers, but the same thing happened as in the previous case. This design also had some success.
https://www.zazzle.com/photo_wedding_vellum_transparency_effect_initials_save_the_date-256509873032717663
• I made it for a coworker’s baby and later brought it to Z. It’s not AI.
https://www.zazzle.com/baby_girl_illustration_in_pink_design_mug-168520320018538734
• A design I like very much. It’s AI.
https://www.zazzle.com/cute_pink_turquoise_floral_van_beach_bachelorette_invitation-256495209369383413
• A very fun design that I like a lot. It’s not AI.
https://www.zazzle.com/kokeshi_couple_japanese_inspired_themed_invitation-256810429741814236
• Another design I like a lot. It has sold a couple of times, so now I’m going to develop the collection. It’s AI.

I hope you like them. Thank you so much!
Wishing you the best on your journey.
Thank you for your honesty, Mari.
And Debt gave me a link, and this one is crazy 10 lessons a day for 4-5 days, I think this one I definitely have to record, so they pack many lesson in short period of time, you cannot do them all, impossible, so this way they hook you in, I will have to stop joining any for a while, as I took too much on my plate , but if I see a good one, I can let you know
You are very kind, thank you! I completely identify with your words. I look forward to seeing your 10 soon!
I appreciate your honesty and your lack of apology! It’s a decision we each make for ourselves, and we should respect one another as artists. 🥰
I am short on time currently (we’re headed to a fall event today), but I will be sure to visit and check things out later.
Thank you so much for sharing your work with us .😊
I really appreciate your words!

Definitely did not remember the weird horse things happening in the video. ROFL
She was SUCH a great vocalist, though.
Funny, saw. But paid no mind. Her vocal presentation is still good who knows if everything is an AI mix.
Tina Turner, The Best??
That’s the one! 🥰
It’s been in my head all day because of this. Lol
